It features a reinforced metal-pinned hinge running the full length of the back and durable nylon catches designed to withstand impact without breaking. The interior contains four layers of expandable zig-zag channel foam, which eliminates the need to cut custom compartments for awkwardly shaped models. The foam pieces are cut slightly larger than the case itself, ensuring that when the lid is shut, the material compresses around the miniatures to restrict movement and prevent paint chipping. The two-tier design allows players to pull out lower layers to accommodate larger models like tanks, flyers, and monsters alongside standard infantry. For transportation, the unit includes an ergonomically balanced handle and a padded shoulder strap, and the lid is constructed to lock open during tabletop deployment.
